With the latest advancements in the Claude API, especially the release of the Agent Skills system (pre-built and custom Skills), it would be highly valuable for TypingMind to natively support Skills integration.
What are Agent Skills?
Agent Skills are modular, code-enabled task folders (containing instructions, scripts, and resources) that Claude loads dynamically for specialized tasks—like company-specific document templates, advanced data analysis, or automation workflows. Anthropic’s Skills enable domain expertise and high-quality automation unavailable to pure prompt-based approaches.
Current Situation:
As of now, using Skills via the Claude API requires manually constructing API requests with the container.skills parameter, setting beta headers, and managing skill uploads and versioning outside the TypingMind interface.
Within TypingMind, Skills-based workflows can only be simulated through prompt engineering or by using Agents, but do not activate real code execution and skill composition as meant by Anthropic.
Proposed Feature:
Add a user-friendly Skills management panel directly in TypingMind:
Install and upload custom Skills (folders/SKILL.md/files) via the GUI.
List Anthropic pre-built Skills and allow enabling/disabling per model or Agent.
Attach one or more Skills via simple UI to a given AI Agent/conversation.
Expose a Skills field/selection in the advanced model settings or per-conversation options.
Automate beta header management and the container structure in outgoing API requests.
Display output files or artifacts generated by Skills (Excel, PDF, etc.) directly in the chat/artifact panel.
Optional: GUI for downloading/uploading files related to Skills, with workflow for multi-turn operations (container reuse).
Benefits:
Unlocks the full power of modern Claude API models within TypingMind.
Enables users to bring domain-specific logic, automations, and templates into their chat workflows—no more relying on fragile manual prompt tricks.
Lowers the technical bar for deploying real Skills; no coding required for most workflows, GUI-first experience.
Brings TypingMind in line with the most advanced enterprise AI platforms, giving business users or teams a single interface for "out-of-the-box" and deeply customized Skill-based LLMs.
Allows users to leverage the best from Claude, including document generation/editing, custom data analysis, robust report creation, etc.—without ever leaving TypingMind.
Greatly enhances TypingMind’s value proposition for professional, enterprise, and power users.
Why now?
Anthropic has made major advances with the Skills API and new code execution tools, making it a perfect time for TypingMind to integrate these capabilities. Early support would further reinforce TypingMind as the most advanced interface for Claude and other top LLMs.
