License limitations Bait & Switch

Nowhere in the sales pitch or license comparison is this 5 device limitation mentioned. It is said you can self host, but not mentioned that that doesn't mean what you think it means until you dig way down in the FAQ. You can self host… to five browsers.

You cannot access typingmind from every browser on your device, let alone every device you have. You can access it from five browsers period. And as you juggle the license between devices, it will reset your configuration and delete all of your characters every time, so you have to stay on top of constantly backing up and restoring.

This will happen even if you don't use it on multiple devices - when you switch or sometimes update browsers, or clear browser data. Or reinstall your OS. Or any other dozens of times you work through your daily flow as a developer.

In my opinion, if I pay for a self host license, then the limitation on USERS is fine. But to limit how many devices I can use? Come on now… The whole point of hosting something is to make it available to yourself wherever you are.

Also: we've been promised that we would be able to host our own sync solution but it's nowhere in sight while the dev focuses more and more on launching outrageously priced monthly team plans and brags about how wealthy he's getting on social media.

We bought your software because it WASN'T that type of a product. I'm glad the dev is doing well, but you're not going to keep customers long term with these shenanigans.
